REAL FOOD!

When I first started my business I had a cute little mission statement about eating like our great grandparents did.

During the covid games when my food wagon took off I put a sign in front of my wagon that said REAL FOOD! It was a blunt approach that caught some attention. I remember a specific gentleman stopping in and saying wow! That's bold. I explained to him that it was certainly intended to be direct and to the point.

My business was certainly thriving with other small businesses being Kneecapped. I felt fortunate in an odd kinda way. It was an interesting and yet ironic eleven year journey in order to break through. The current trend going on around the area was employees holding their employers hostage with insubordination and nefarious intentions with a mix of some legitimacy on why the business could not be operated.

But in other news! McDonald's and I were doing pretty well. Granted I was a one man thrill ride slinging food and McDonald's had cars out to the road for take out. I like to think they'd given up on life and were smoking marb reds before filling up the tank. I just stuck with the farm fresh approach and slinged food at a fast pace.

This was an interesting time in my eyes. I reflected on how my restaurant diversified into my current business model. I certainly would have been toast if I stuck with my original business model with my Bar and Grill for obvious reasons. In 2012 it was a hell scape at the time. I finally started to see some hard work pay off. It wasn't what I expected but nothing really seems to be the case in this biz. So I just rode the wave.

Industry people did have to sell out their core values for soft money from the state just to survive. When I had time to glance around.  I felt fortunate that wasn't the case for me. If I would have built up in the original direction I was heading it would have all crumbled with a decade behind my belt. The long game and not giving up and being a minimalist paid off.

REAL FOOD definitely gets my point across with just two words. Being in a period of time where a lot of folks had to explain values annoyed me. So it was fitting.

Luckily for me at that point in time eating responsibly sourced food wasn't considered a far right wing conspiracy theory. But that sure seems like that's what it has currently morphed into over the last few months.

So I will continue to offer affordable healthy options. I honestly don't believe enough people are doing that. I will help small farms stay in business. I will enjoy eating the seasonality of the finest ingredients right alongside you.

Because it tastes better works for me. Am I right or am I right? Yes or yes? #realfood 🤷‍♂️
